Job from partnerThis developer–builder is seeking a hands-on Architect to support their growing in-house design function, working directly as 2iC to the Design Manager. Based in the Eastern Suburbs, this is a rare opportunity to move client-side and gain exposure across both development and construction, contributing to a pipeline of residential projects from early coordination through to delivery. With a strong focus on consultant management, mark-ups, and design standards, this role suits a highly organised all-rounder who enjoys being across multiple project stages without being heavily focused on documentation.
You’ll be joining a small, close-knit design team embedded within a larger development and construction business, giving you direct access to decision-making and real project impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Design Manager as 2iC across a range of residential projects.
- Coordinate external consultants and stakeholders, ensuring design intent and project timelines are maintained.
- Review and markup drawings produced by external documentation teams, maintaining quality and consistency with established design standards.
- Assist in managing staged project delivery, ensuring strong organisation across multiple phases.
- Contribute to design development and resolve technical issues across projects.
- Undertake design changes and updates
- Collaborate with internal development, construction, and estimating teams to ensure smooth project progression.
Skills & Experience
- Operating at a mid-level proficiency in architecture, ideally with experience across residential or mixed-use projects.
- Strong all-rounder with proven experience in coordination and project delivery.
- Solid understanding of construction documentation.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple moving parts across staged developments.
- Experience using ArchiCAD preferred (Revit users considered with willingness to learn).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely within a small team.
- Driver’s licence advantageous.
