We value flexibility, this role can be performed at any of the AER offices located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, or Sydney and are available on a full-time, part-time or job-share basis.

The successful candidate will be appointed as an EL2 and may attract an additional allowance via an IFA depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. Please note that all IFAs are reviewed annually in accordance with the IFA policy and are not ongoing.

What you will do as the Executive Director, Reset Coordination

• Oversee the Consumer Challenge Panel input into AER work, the budget assigned and the ongoing relationship management of this group.
• Oversee the ongoing development of how the AER delivers its resets and takes into account customer engagement, including working closely with the Consumer Challenge Panel.
• Support the team’s ongoing capability to undertake resets in line with the Better Resets Handbook including through skills development and succession planning.
• Make effective judgements under pressure to decide the right course of action in challenging and complex scenarios where information is not always complete.
• Represent the AER to advance AER interests internally and externally; cultivate and maintain relationships with industry, market bodies, other regulators, Governments (Commonwealth and State), and consumer groups.
  
  

About You

In order to succeed in the role, you will have:

• demonstrated leadership, providing direction, identifying development needs and opportunities, coaching staff including experience in delivering regular and appropriate feedback to build strong, high performing teams
• demonstrated understanding of the Australian electricity and gas markets; the role, purpose and objectives of theAER and the complex political and stakeholder environment within which the AER operates
• excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to convey complex information to a range of audiences, including experience negotiating and influencing internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes
• relevant tertiary qualifications in law, economics, public policy or related fields.
