Description

Oxford Economics Australia, part of Oxford Economics Group, is a leading independent economics, construction and property forecasting company. We are looking for a Senior Economist to join our growing Global Construction team. This role would be ideal for someone who wants to take the next step in their career and cement their credentials as an industry expert.

This is an opportunity to advance your career at BIS Oxford Economics, a market leader and rapidly growing organization with offices situated around the world. You will work with our international team of Economists, Consultants and Forecasters to help our clients navigate the challenges ahead in a friendly, collaborative, and high achieving environment.

About you

You will possess excellent quantitative modelling skills and have experience using economics to answer client questions. You will also have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to independently respond to client needs.

Key Responsibilities

As an Economist: you will ideally have at least 2-4 years’ experience undertaking high quality research and analysis. You will understand how construction industry developments are affected by – and impact – the broader economy and want to take the next steps to become a global expert in the field.

As a Senior Economist: you will ideally have at least 5 years’ experience in leading and undertaking high quality research and analysis. You will be a thought leader who understands how global developments impact – and are impacted by – the construction sector, and be able to present your insights clearly for clients.

About the role

We are looking for a candidate to project manage several existing subscription services, and who will contribute to the continued development of our fast-growing global construction service. The role is based in our Sydney office.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics or related field (honours or masters desired but not essential)
  • Comfortable working and liaising with our clients who are typically senior management in large corporations and government organisations.
  • Experience working with econometric models – specifically time series techniques
  • A proven, demonstrable track record of economic analysis and research
  • Experience developing quantitative forecasting models
  • Must be highly organised and able to manage multiple deliverables at once
  • Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Must be a self-starter, with the drive to set and reach ambitious goals
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain economic concepts and quantitative results, as well as their implications, to non-specialists.

Desired

  • Advanced degree in Economics
  • Experience programming in R or Python
  • Experience conducting research and analysis in the construction industry.
