W Sydney is now casting for a Sous Chef. The role focuses on the center of W Sydney’s culinary journey, BTWN restaurant, which is situated ‘between’ the city’s sweeping expressways and Darling Harbour serving up contemporary Australian flavors alongside a dynamic urban vista. Your main responsibilities include, but not limited to;

• Supporting the culinary leadership to achieve the daily objectives of the culinary department
• Works with Restaurant and Banquet departments to coordinate service and timing of events and meals
• Leads shifts while personally preparing food items and executing requests based on required specifications
• Participates in the employee performance appraisal process, giving feedback as needed
• Supervises and mentoring staffing to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met
• Participates in department meetings and continually communicates a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce desired results
• Purchases appropriate supplies and manages food and supply inventories according to budget.
• Performs all duties of culinary and related kitchen area talent in high demand times

REQUIREMENTS

• Working experience in a large/luxury full-service hotel
• Knowledge and understanding in Australian/European cuisine
• Excellent time management & communication skills
• Basic administrative and computer skills
