Export Finance Australia (EFA) is Australia’s export credit agency.
We provide finance to support Australian export trade and overseas infrastructure development across the Pacific and Indo-Pacific. Through our loans, bonds and guarantees, we support businesses – from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to large corporates – foreign governments and infrastructure projects, to take on the world.
Due to an increase in the volume of transactions being undertaken we are seeking to add 3 Legal Counsels to the Legal team.
THE ROLES
Legal Counsel, Strategic Transactions - SydneyThe Legal Counsel, Strategic Transactions is responsible for providing expert legal advice and guidance in relation to highly complex, strategic and/or novel financing transactions proposed to be undertaken by EFA including equity investments.This is a full-time, permanent opportunity and we are seeking candidates with at least 5 years’ PQE in-house experience in an investment fund/large financial institution or top/mid-tier law firm in private equity, funds finance and/or mergers and acquisitions, working on complex transactions.
Legal Counsel – Institutional Transactions – PerthThe Legal Counsel – Institutional Transactions is a legal role responsible for providing expert legal advice and guidance in relation to certain financing transactions of EFA’s Institutional business.This is a full-time, permanent opportunity and we are seeking candidates with at least 5 years’ PQE in-house experience in a large financial institution or top/mid-tier law firm across multiple sectors, ideally with some exposure to project finance transactions.
Legal Counsel – Business Financing, Small Business Lending and Partnerships – Sydney – 12 mth FTCThe Legal Counsel – BF, SML & P is a legal role responsible for providing expert legal advoce and transactional support esponsible for providing expert legal advice for transactions in the Business Financing, Small Business and Partnerships teams.This is an initial 12 month fixed term contract and candidates will have at least 5 years’ PQE in another in-house role within in a large financial institution/corporate or top/mid-tier law firm in banking and finance.

ABOUT YOU Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal matters to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.You will have excellent technical legal skills, including drafting, negotiation and analytical, with keen attention to detail.Candidates will have strong ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.A current practising certificate as a solicitor in New South Wales or another Australian jurisdiction.
