Why the role?
We are looking for a seasoned People Business Partner to join our national law firm on a 12-month parental leave contract. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Principals and senior stakeholders to deliver effective and impactful people solutions throughout the entire employee life cycle.
Skills and Experiences:
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Principals and senior stakeholders to deliver people strategies aligned with the firm’s goals
- Provide coaching on performance, engagement, and leadership development
- Lead annual talent, remuneration and workforce planning processes
- Drive key firm-wide projects (L&D, DEI, wellbeing and more)
- Offer practical support on complex employee relations matters
- You’re an experienced senior People/HR Business Partner with at least 5+ years under your belt, ideally in law firms.
- You know your way around IR, awards and compliance - you’re confident giving advice that’s accurate, practical and aligned with the bigger picture.
- You’re tech-savvy and comfortable with HRIS like Elmo (or similar) - you value clean data and records.
- You’ve got a solid HR qualification or relevant industry experience and know how to apply it.
- You’ve built trust with stakeholders in past roles - people respect how you show up, especially when things get tough.
- You’ve influenced outcomes using a mix of credibility, strong relationships and sound advice.
- Your communication game is strong - whether it’s a senior leader, team member or external partner, people walk away from your conversations feeling heard and supported.
