You’ll work closely with a brilliant data scientist (currently doing it all), and own every part of backend infra—from ingesting massive public datasets, to scaling LLM-driven document parsing, to laying down a system that won’t break when we hit 10mio users.
It’s fast-moving, impact-heavy, and deeply collaborative.
What you’ll be doing:
- Re-architecting a working MVP into a scalable, stable backend
- Designing pipelines for document parsing, OCR, and LLM integration
- Building ingestion layers for public data sets and optimizing our DB
- Owning backend deployment, monitoring, and performance
- Collaborating with data science and occasionally plugging into the frontend (React)
- Strong backend engineering experience (Python, PostgreSQL, AWS)
- Experience building in small teams—ideally with 0–1 product ownership
- Pragmatic thinking: you don’t gold-plate, you ship
- Strong opinions, weakly held—able to debate, then decide
