Impact You Will HaveAs Director of Fundraising, you’ll lead all streams of fundraising and their teams into the next phase of strategic growth.
Reporting to the CEO, and as part of the Executive Leadership Team with full support of the BDI and BDI Foundation Board, you’ll set the vision across the full fundraising portfolio; major gifts, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, bequests, individual giving, and community fundraising/digital campaigns.
With a bold, visionary mandate for growth, you’ll build and bring a high performing, and values led team along with you, working collaboratively across the organisation to build long term revenue growth, diversify income streams, and deepen engagement with donors and partners who believe in a mentally healthier future.
Key Responsibilities- Set and deliver the overarching fundraising strategy across all streams, aligned to BDI’s organisational objectives
- Develop workforce plans which are aligned to support the achievement of strategy for fundraising growth
- Lead, inspire and grow a high-performing team across all fundraising channels
- Champion a culture of fundraising excellence across the Institute, with a focus on collaboration across all areas of the Institute
- Leverage the Foundation Board and Executive Leadership Team to grow networks and unlock new opportunities
- With your high-level philanthropy and partnerships or strategic business development experience, commercial sales mindset and deep pipeline growth capabilities, work alongside the directors of other business units to identify funding priorities and link these with partnership opportunities and fundraising assets for both HNWIs and partnerships
- Develop a sophisticated and commercially astute sales and business development culture within the fundraising team, with a clear focus on building a pipeline of significant relationships with corporates, foundations, and high net worth individuals
- Play a key leadership role in BDI’s large scale comprehensive philanthropic campaign, working alongside an external agency and campaign lead, driving campaign strategies to deliver significant gifts and create new, long term philanthropic partnerships
- With investment and external support, using your high levels of data analysis capabilities, develop and implement acquisition strategies to build the single and regular giving programs with a multi-channel approach
- Work to continue momentum on the significant BDI community campaigns, while always forward planning on potential new product development and innovation to develop this significant revenue stream
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team and external agencies to develop and deliver effective fundraising communications to attract and retain donors across all revenue streams
- Lead the development and enhancement of effective and efficient systems, tools, processes and reporting, to better support donor stewardship, journeys and channel management
- Drive the digital growth and optimisation across the program with a strategy for automation, data analytics, business intelligence and effective use of broader technologies to drive revenue and improve efficiencies
- Play a key leadership role as part of the Executive team, reporting to the CEO with high visibility at BDI and BDI Foundation Board Meetings, including providing regular updates on strategy and revenue performance
- Manage and develop budget, forecasting and all fundraising reporting
We’re looking for a bold, ambitious, commercially minded leader who brings:
- Significant leadership experience across both high-value fundraising programs (partnerships and major gifts) and other channels such as community and individual giving OR a strong background in high value strategic sales, business development, or relationship management
- Proven experience in leading and embedding a sales and business development culture, with a strong track record in developing and managing revenue generating pipelines
- A proven background in fundraising or sales strategy development, new product development, and innovation with a track record, and drive, to lead ambitious growth plans
- Ability to diversify income, build a culture of best practice and trend setting fundraising or sales initiatives, you will thrive in an organisation with bold goals
- Experience in operating at senior leadership level with strong influencing skills, working collaboratively across all stakeholder groups to achieve business objectives, develop new fundraising or sales assets and build an all of organisation fundraising / sales driven culture
- Strong analytical skills with a data driven mindset, able to utilise data to track performance and build strategic plans in accordance
- Exceptional people management skills with the ability to lead, develop and enhance teams across broad fundraising streams
- Demonstrated ability to grow and structure high performing, commercial minded cross functional teams with the ability to embed a creative, innovative and a results-driven culture
- Experience working at executive and board levels, managing budget development and reporting across all fundraising channels
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively engage a diverse range of stakeholders including internal and external parties
